The Hamann G 65 AMG With COR Wheels and 700+ HP

The Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG is one of the big boys in the SUV game. It’s more than capable of handling any type of off-road, rugged terrain thanks to its history with the German automaker. While it may have been mainly used to conquer rough terrains in the past, the G-Class models have transformed into more of a road-going SUV thanks to the wealthy consumers that purchase them. Mercedes-Benz has shown no plans to change the way it is built for off-road duty to create a more comfortable ride on the streets, so the aftermarket car tuning team at Hamann in Germany has developed a new upgrade program that turns the SUV into a boulevard cruiser with a large amount of power and exclusive styling upgrades. The new G 65 AMG upgrade program includes a range of new engine modifications, a wide body exterior kit, new COR Wheels and other chassis upgrades to create a one-of-a-kind G-Class.

The engineering team at Hamann in Germany first decided to focus on the massive 6.0-liter V-12 engine hiding beneath the hood. The twin-turbocharged engine packed quite a bit of potential that was able to be tapped into through the use of a new software tune. The tune alters a variety of engine parameters from fuel delivery to ignition, spark, and timing variables to create even more power than before. A new stainless steel exhaust system with side-exit design and three tailpipes finished in anodized gold-colored aluminum helps to reduce backpressure so that the SUV’s turbochargers can spool more efficiently. The result is a total of 702 horsepower and 811 lb-ft. of torque being sent to all four of the COR Wheels at the front and rear axles for greater acceleration and top speed performance.

After the engine was upgraded, the team shifted their focus on the exterior of the G 65 AMG. The entire SUV was repainted and given new multi-layered paint with a special illumination feature that, when exposed to electric current, glows in the dark. The paint runs the length of the SUV and is also worn by the front and rear logos, and can be lit up with the push of a button. The front fascia was equipped with new LED lighting and a lip spoiler to generate greater amounts of downforce while creating a more aggressive look. Both the front and rear fenders were extended a total of 76 mm to give the high-performance SUV a more muscular stance when combined with the COR Wheels. A new rear bumper with diffuser insert and roof spoiler helps to build upon the more aggressive look and generate more downforce for better stability.

The final step was the chassis where the team wanted to give the SUV a stylish and comfortable ride with better handling. The suspension was modified with new comfort springs that lower the ride height and achieve a more road-worthy ride. The factory rim and tire setup was removed for new forged COR Wheels in a three-piece construction with a 22-inch diameter. Each wheel was also equipped with new Michelin tires that offer good levels of grip with a quiet ride quality.

KTW and the C63 AMG Coupe With Forged Wheels and 500+ HP

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has been a highly regarded performance car amongst not just the automotive press, but with consumers as well since it was first unveiled. It’s simple formula of using a big rear-wheel drive V-8 powertrain with luxurious amenities has made it a popular choice for those looking for comfort, style, and performance to back it all up. One German aftermarket tuning company, KTW Tuning, wanted to take the sports car to the next level in terms of performance and style without going over-the-top with upgrades. Instead they stuck to a simple plan of adding new engine upgrades, chassis modifications, forged wheels, and enhanced aerodynamics to create an even more exciting AMG model.

The naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine that Mercedes-Benz builds by hand is still used in the Coupe variant of the C63 AMG model and has been tuned for even more power by the team at KTW. The 6.2-liter already has a thrilling exhaust note but was fitted with a new stainless steel exhaust system to optimize backpressure and produce a thunderous exhaust note. The system utilizes two new racing catalytic converters as well as a sport muffler and weighs 10 lbs less than the factory setup. After the exhaust was installed, the engineers at KTW Tuning focused on developing a new software tune for the sports car’s ECU. The ECU software was altered and now features enhanced ignition, timing, spark, and fuel delivery to create even more power. The two modifications result in a total of 525 horsepower being sent to each of the rear forged wheels for quicker acceleration and a higher top speed.

With more power being sent to the factory rim and tire setup, the KTW Tuning team had to upgrade the chassis in order to accommodate. The factory suspension was removed and replaced with a new KW Variant 3 coilover system that helps to sharpen up handling and lowers the ride height by 15 mm for a better center of gravity. The rim and tire setup was removed in place of a new set of monoblock forged wheels with a lower overall weight and a 9.5 x 19 front and 11.0 x 19 rear setup. The wheels were also fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires for better traction on pavement.

The final part of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG that was upgraded was the exterior. Here, the team focused on subtle additions that would improve high-speed stability. KTW installed a new badgeless grille that improved airflow to the radiator and a new spoiler lip that increased downforce. Two new side skirts were installed that redirect air away from the rear forged wheels. The rear is finished off with a small trunk-mounted spoiler and a diffuser insert with fins that create a suction-effect at high speeds to keep the rear of the sports car planted.

The ABT Sportsline Audi R8 Super Car Tuning Program

The Audi R8 has been one of the most anticipated and sought-after cars since it was first introduced by the German automaker during its tour of the world auto shows in 2006. Its sleek lines, and modern design paired with its incredible performance makes it a very competitive model in the exotic car marketplace, while its mid-engined layout and two factory engine options provide the perfect platform for a super car tuning program. The team at ABT Sportsline has developed a range of upgrades that are designed to build upon the factory platform and increase performance dramatically for the German sports car. The range of modifications includes engine tuning, chassis and suspension modifications, aerodynamics, and new wheel and tire options.

One of the most important parts of the super car tuning program by ABT Sportsline for the Audi R8 is the engine upgrade enhancements. Both the 4.2-liter V8 and 5.2-liter V10 engines can be upgraded with a host of modifications. Items that are individual but unique to each engine type include racing air intakes with carbon fiber construction, lightweight stainless steel exhaust systems with racing catalytic converters, sport air filters, new spark plugs, and also carbon fiber engine covers. New ECU software tunes that were engineered by ABT Sportsline optimize the ignition, timing, fuel injection delivery, and other parameters to produce a wider power band with a higher overall output of horsepower and torque. For customers that want an extreme super car tuning program for the Audi R8, the German aftermarket company can install a new supercharger system that will drastically increase power output.

In addition to the engine super car tuning program, the Audi R8 4.2 and R8 5.2 can be outfitted with a range of aerodynamic options that optimize downforce and drag. Upgrades range from new front spoilers and air intakes, side skirts, extended fenders, new rear bumpers and diffusers, and trunk lid spoilers. The increase in downforce helps to improve high-speed stability and handling for better performance on the race track.

There are many chassis options available from ABT Sportsline for both Audi R8 models. The factory suspension can be modified with new coilover setups with adjustable damping, camber, and ride height settings or sport springs for better handling dynamics. New brake systems can range from carbon ceramic to steel rotors with larger six- and four-piston calipers at the front and rear axles. New ABT Sportsline DR and CR lightweight alloy wheels with corresponding high performance tires can be installed for better grip and traction.

All of the new products for the Audi R8 super car tuning programs are currently available from ABT Sportsline and can be purchased as a package if customers choose to do so.
